Roslyn K. Berrin CREW Miami Scholarship Fund

Roslyn (“Roz”) K. Berrin has shattered many glass ceilings for women in commercial real estate. She spent more than half a century as the founding CEO of Berrin Associates, a Miami-based real estate company dealing exclusively in land, commercial, industrial and investment properties. A pioneer in her field, she was among the first women of her generation to pursue an entrepreneurial career in non-residential real estate, beginning in the 1950s with the sale of large parcels of land.

After obtaining her real estate license in 1955, Roz saw that Florida’s postwar building boom would require vast tracts of undeveloped land and began to specialize in the sale of acreage, farms, ranches, groves and buildable lots. At a time when South Florida was composed mostly of lakes, ponds, sinkholes and swamps, she made arduous site visits in jeeps, swamp buggies and small-plane “flyovers” in order to assess the terrain.

As Miami began to industrialize, Roz turned her attention to commercial and industrial properties. Over the years, she has held interest in properties stretching from South Miami to Cocoa Beach, and her holdings have included office  buildings and shopping centers throughout Miami-Dade county, and apartment buildings in Miami Beach, Wynwood and the City of Miami.

A longtime advocate for women, Roz spent over five decades working to expand opportunities for women in the workforce and has been recognized numerous times for her efforts. In 2000, she became the recipient of the FIU-Jewish Museum of Florida’s “Breaking the Glass Ceiling” award; in 2001, the Women’s History Coalition named her a “Woman of Impact”; and in 2006, she received the “In The Company of Women” Pioneer award from Miami-Dade County. Additionally, she was profiled for the book “Beyond Julia’s Daughter’s: Women in Miami Dade History” about South Florida’s most significant female leaders.

In 2019, CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Miami presented Roz with the chapter’s Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the highest honors bestowed upon a woman in commercial real estate. To show Roz’s gratitude for an organization that has done so much for women, Roz and her family created the Roslyn K. Berrin Scholarship Fund to support future generations of female leaders and to help advance women in commercial real estate.

Today, we’re asking you to join CREW Miami and family, friends and colleagues of Roz, to honor her extraordinary legacy by contributing to the Roslyn K. Berrin Scholarship Fund.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 in honor of Roz’s 100th birthday on July 16th, 2023, and endow this scholarship in perpetuity. Your generous gift will continue to help advance women in commercial real estate globally and make an impact in an industry that meant so much to Roz.
